The Forest educational trail Rožni studenec

http://www.slovenia.info/pictures/TB_attractions/1/2014/IMG_7181_518000.jpgThis educational trail starts at the wooded area extending along the Rinža River next to the Kočevje unit of the Slovenian Forest Service at Pristava (Marof). Signposts showing a horned owl lead hikers on a circular path from Pristava to the spring Rožni studenec, through the forest to a dam on the Rinža River, to the spring Mrzli studenec and back. The trail is equipped with educational information boards. A 3 km path is not demanding since there are no sharp ascents. The trail is suitable for anyone equipped with walking shoes.

The Castle Trail

http://www.slovenia.info/pictures/TB_attractions/1/2014/Ko%C3%84%C5%A4evje2_532217.jpgThis trail is slightly less demanding and longer than the Kalan trail. Just as the Kalan trail, it starts at the Kočevje bus station and leads along Podgorska ulica to Dinos. Here it turns left, climbs up the hill directly and turns left again. The whole trail is marked, the first two thirds with green castle tower with white background. The trail crosses two forest roads and after approximately 100 m leaves the green markings and follows mountain markings towards the hut Koča pri Jelenovem studencu. It crosses the road and climbs up the forest path directly to the crossroads for Mestni vrh. Here it continues straight ahead to a large parking place above the hut. It takes a minute to reach the hut from here. The trail is undemanding and takes one hour.

The Kalan Trail

http://www.slovenia.info/pictures/TB_attractions/1/2014/planinska_ko%C3%84%C5%A4a_532169.jpgThis trail offers a steeper and shorter access to the hut at the spring Jelenov studenec on Stojna. After passing Dinos it climbs right, along the forest road and after approximately 100 m follows the markings up the hill. The trail often crosses the forest road. Following the markings it soon reaches the road block, from where the road leads to the hut. At the crossroads it continues towards the hut directly. The trail is rather steep, however undemanding and takes one hour.

It starts at the foothill of the western wall. It climbs over partially overhanging rock equipped with 30 wedges and 45 metres of wicker wire to the courtyard of the castle ruins. The trail takes 5 minutes.

Fun fact: The Trimčkova Trail - This trail starts at the Kočevje bus station. The trail is marked with the Knafelc markings and with the sign »TP«. It is a quite undemanding walking path and is recommended to be taken as a single-day family trip.
